Good Sam Membership Review: When the Discounts Pay Off
Good Sam membership is a bundle of discounts and RV-related benefits. Its value depends on whether your normal travel and shopping behavior overlaps with those benefits enough to recover the annual fee.
Start with benefits you already use
A discount has little value if it changes your behavior just to capture it. Estimate savings from campgrounds, fuel and purchases you would make anyway, then ignore benefits that are unlikely to affect your real spending.
Membership tiers change the break-even point
Higher tiers can add benefits but also raise the annual fee. Compare the incremental cost of each tier with the incremental value you expect to use rather than assuming the premium tier is automatically better.
Use a one-year savings forecast
List the trips, campground nights, fuel purchases and service work you expect over the next twelve months. Apply only the discounts you are reasonably likely to receive. If estimated savings exceed the membership cost by a comfortable margin, the economics are straightforward.
