RV Tire Inflator: PSI vs CFM Explained
A compressor can advertise enough maximum PSI to reach an RV tire’s pressure and still be frustratingly slow if airflow is low at higher pressures.
Maximum PSI is only the ceiling
A compressor rated to a high maximum pressure may deliver much less airflow as pressure rises. Check performance information near the pressure range you actually use when available.
CFM affects fill time
Cubic feet per minute describes airflow. Larger RV and truck tires contain much more air volume than car tires, so higher airflow can materially reduce the time needed to correct pressure.
Duty cycle matters for multiple tires
Some compact compressors require cooling after a limited run time. Filling several large tires in succession can exceed that duty cycle even if the compressor reaches the target pressure.
Power connection can be a constraint
Higher-output compressors may connect directly to a battery rather than a small accessory socket. Check wiring, fuse requirements and cable reach before assuming the inflator can reach every tire on the rig.
