How Much Does an RV Campground Cost Per Night?

There is no single national campground price that accurately predicts your trips. Public parks, basic private campgrounds and destination resorts serve very different markets.

RVVerdicts take: Build your own nightly average from the types of parks and regions you actually use. A blended rate is more useful for budgeting than one headline national number.

Campground category changes the baseline

Primitive public sites, state parks, private full-hookup parks and premium resorts can differ dramatically in amenities and price. Comparing them as one product hides the reason for the difference.

Location and season matter

Popular national-park gateways, beaches, major events and winter destinations can command higher rates during peak periods. Shoulder-season and monthly pricing can produce much lower effective nightly costs.

Fees can change the final rate

Reservation fees, resort fees, electric surcharges, extra-vehicle fees, pet fees and taxes can make the checkout total materially higher than the advertised base rate.

Model a blended trip average

Estimate how many nights will be public campgrounds, private parks, memberships, boondocking or free overnight stops. Multiply each by its expected rate and divide by total nights.

Next step: Use the decision rule above, then verify ratings, specifications or current terms against the exact product or RV you own.
