Is Your RV Converter Lithium Compatible?
Installing lithium batteries without checking the converter can result in slow or incomplete charging even when the batteries physically fit the compartment.
Find the exact converter model
The RV brand and model year are not enough because converters can vary by floorplan, factory change or previous owner modification. Locate the label on the converter/charger or power center.
Compare charging profile with battery guidance
Battery manufacturers specify recommended charging voltages and operating limits. Check whether the converter’s bulk, absorption and float behavior aligns with the battery instructions.
Alternator and solar charging are separate
A lithium-compatible converter only addresses charging from shore power or generator through that converter. Solar controllers and tow-vehicle or alternator charging may require their own settings or equipment.
Wiring can limit upgrade performance
Higher charging current can expose voltage drop or undersized cabling. A charging-system upgrade should consider the complete path between charger and battery, including fusing and disconnects.
