RV LIFE says the mobile app can be downloaded and used for free, including access to its campground database and reviews. That makes the free tier a legitimate tool rather than a demo that becomes useless without paying.
If you mainly take short trips to familiar areas and already have a navigation system you trust, the free app may cover the part of RV LIFE you actually use.
Pro unlocks the RV-specific routing layer
RV LIFE Pro adds RV Safe GPS and Trip Wizard access. RV LIFE says routing can account for the rig profile, including height and weight, and its mobile app supports turn-by-turn voice/lane guidance plus offline navigation. Those are the paid features most likely to matter in a tall or heavy rig.
Trip Wizard now works inside the mobile app
RV LIFE support documentation updated in 2026 says the full Trip Wizard planner is accessible through the Trips section of the mobile app as well as on the web. That reduces the old planning-versus-mobile handoff and makes the paid workflow more cohesive.
Pro also includes maintenance and education tools
The subscription currently includes RV LIFE Maintenance and Masterclass alongside Trip Wizard, Campgrounds and the mobile GPS. Those extras can improve value for a new owner, but they should not be used to justify the subscription if you will never open them.
Use the trial on a real route
The right test is not browsing the feature list. Enter your actual RV dimensions, build an upcoming multi-stop trip, download the required offline map area and use the workflow through arrival. If the paid tools remove real planning or routing friction, that is evidence to keep the subscription.
