RV Short Queen Mattress Size: Measure Before You Buy

Short queen is a common RV label, but labels are less reliable than the actual platform in your rig.

RVVerdicts take: Treat the bed platform as the specification. Measure width, length, height clearance and corner shape before shopping.

Residential queen assumptions cause mistakes

RV manufacturers often save floor space by shortening the bed platform. Replacing the mattress with a residential size can block walking clearance, doors or slide movement even when the width looks correct.

Measure four constraints

Record platform width, platform length, maximum usable mattress height and any cut corners or radius corners. Also measure where bedding must tuck around walls and cabinetry.

Thickness affects more than comfort

A thicker mattress changes how easy it is to climb into bed, open nearby cabinets and lift storage platforms. Comfort gains are only useful if the new mattress still fits the room.

Next step: Use the decision rule above, then verify ratings, specifications or current terms against the exact product or RV you own.
